Qigong and the Eighty Percent Rule: How to Practice Smarter, Not Harder

In Qigong training, the “eighty percent rule” means practising with awareness instead of force. Work at about eighty percent of your capacity, enough to be comfortable, never to strain. This keeps the energy and the blood flowing in all the body. It also prevents injury, allow you to be fully in the moment. Slow, mindful movements strengthen muscles more deeply than rushing or tightening too much. When you stay relaxed, qi, blood, and breath move freely and you feel balanced rather than tired.

As an online Qigong teacher, I keep learning and evolving to bring my students the best experience. Practising online Qigong is wonderful because we feel part of a real community, even online. People from all walks of life join and from all over the world. Some days you can choose to leave your camera off to focus entirely on yourself. At home, students feel less judged and more connected to their own rhythm. Embracing the eighty percent rule helps everyone practise safely and effectively, without comparison or pressure.

If you want to practise online Qigong that’s gentle, safe, and effective, join my classes. You’ll feel energised, centred, and strong, without overdoing it.
