Qigong to Calm the Nervous System
Many people feel stress and anxiety directly in the chest. The breath becomes shallow, the chest feels tight, and the body carries emotional pressure. Qigong movements can help release this tension and bring the nervous system back toward calm and balance.

Why tension builds in the chest
When we experience stress, the body often contracts around the chest and diaphragm. Breathing becomes shorter and the nervous system stays in a state of alert. Over time this can create a feeling of tightness, pressure, or emotional heaviness in the chest.
Gentle movement and breathing help soften this area and allow the body to relax again.
How Qigong helps
Qigong works with slow movement, posture, and breath. By opening the chest and regulating breathing, the body begins to calm naturally. The nervous system can shift away from constant tension and the breath becomes deeper and more comfortable.
This type of practice is especially helpful when you feel:
• Chest tightness or heaviness
• Stress or anxiety
• Emotional pressure
• Fatigue from mental overload
With regular practice, Qigong can help restore energy and create more space in the breath and chest.
Practice the movement
In this week’s class we use movements to open the chest and support smoother breathing. Move slowly, follow your breath, and allow the body to soften without forcing anything.
